NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
A massive fire broke out at a textile warehouse in Badamtala, Bankra area of Howrah early Friday morning, triggering panic among locals. The fire was first spotted around 7:30 a.m. when residents saw thick smoke and flames rising from the building and immediately alerted the fire department.
Three fire engines rushed to the spot and battled the blaze for nearly two hours before bringing it under control. By then, large quantities of cloth rolls, fabric bundles, and other stored materials had been completely destroyed. Fortunately, no employees were inside the warehouse at the time, preventing any casualties.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, though officials are yet to confirm the exact reason. Residents said the flames were so intense that the heat could be felt in nearby houses, prompting firefighters to evacuate the adjoining homes as a precaution.
Police and fire officials have initiated a joint probe to determine the cause of the fire and assess whether safety protocols and electrical standards were properly maintained at the warehouse.
